JEPP Funding

JEPP has been seeking funds from private citizens, local businesses and organizations, and government agencies in an effort to be proactive, prepared and protective of Joyce residents. Funds raised are directed to the CCFD#4 Auxiliary and earmarked for JEPP projects. The JEPP committee periodically submits recommendations to the Auxiliary for purchasing. All funds have gone toward the purchase of equipment, materials and supplies for storage in the container cache and toward the construction of portable water filtration and purification units, all of which are meant to serve members of the community with medical needs and those unable to shelter in place in the aftermath of a catastrophe. The cache and associated local emergency response plans have been organized to provide live saving support until rescuers arrive on the scene after a major earthquake.

JEPP has secured some of the necessary items through private donations and business contributions, including food, water, portable five-gallon toilets, lanterns and flashlights, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene kits, diapers and other baby items, assorted tools, cots, sleeping bags and tents. We remain undersupplied, however, and invite additional financial contributions. All donations are tax deductible since we are a non-profit 501c3 organization. Checks are to be made payable to Joyce Fire Auxiliary and sent to the following address: Joyce Planning and Preparation, C/O Clallam County Fire Protection District No. 4, P. O. Box 106, Joyce, Washington  98343. Please write to jepp.group@gmail.com if you have questions along these lines.

We thank First Federal Bank, Port Angeles, the Walmart Corporation and the Red Cross, as well as the many individuals and small businesses who have contributed funds or material goods thus far, and those who have either made or purchased cookies for our periodic bake sales.

In early September 2018 we received a $2,000 donation from Northwest Farm Credit Services. The donation will be used to modify electrical systems and provide for heating system retrofits in the Joyce Bible Church in a continuing effort to prepare its frame built complex for use as an emergency shelter in a major disaster. The church has been selected, in part, because other non-stick-built structures in town are not likely to withstand the violent and prolonged shaking during a 9.0 earthquake. JEPP has deemed it prudent to make the JBC shelter-worthy in order to house community residents requiring shelter and assistance in such dire circumstances.

Pictured below are Jim and Mel raising money for JEPP by selling cookies at one of the fire auxiliary's many bake sales, Donna thanking visitors from First Federal Bank, the cache which is being supplied through many generous donations, and Jim and Rae acknowledging receipt of the Northwest Farm Credit Services check.
