By April 2021 JEPP had purchased and stored 2,450 rolls of toilet paper for future use in the Joyce Community Shelter in the event of a major disaster, achieving its goal to cache two rolls/person/week x 4 weeks for 300 people.
The 2,400 rolls were stored in two types of sealed containers. A total of 1,600 were packed in twenty lidded totes, 80 rolls per tote, and stored in Conex #2. Another 850 rolls, were packed in five 55-gallon barrels, 170 rolls per barrel, and stored in the adjacent steel shed. Altogether, the count was 2,450 rolls, exceeding the target by 50.
Twenty Durabilt 27-gallon plastic black & yellow stackable storage totes, each holding 80 rolls, were used for storage in Conex #2. In each tote the TP was packed in four separate Hefty Strong large trash bags. Duct tape was used to further seal the plastic bags within and rubber weather stripping was used to seal the totes' snap on lids. The totes were then labeled and placed securely on the Conex container's shelves with the expectation the TP would be protected for decades to come from moisture, rodents and insects.
Six 55-gallon drums were provided by Dan and Judy Harvey for storing toilet paper in the corner of JEPP's steel storage shed. Each held 170 rolls, which were tightly packed inside a plastic liner. The barrel's lids were then properly sealed and the drums labeled. Altogether, 850 fully protected rolls are now securely stored in the building.
